So since Rob and Josh loved the last blog I did, since it was so random, I’m going to do that same thing again this week, just because I have nothing better to write about. So right now I chatting with my friend who is in Spain on facebook and we talk to each other almost every day, she is doing a study abroad program and is then planning on studying here at Tech when she gets back, which I am very excited for, and looking forwards too. I am also sitting in the same place that I was last week when I did my random blog, but this time instead of just one other person in the room, there are two people except one of them, my friend Shannon is sleeping even though she is supposed to be watching this movie that is playing on their TV right now, but I’ll get to this later. My friend Abby is sitting on her bed just staring at the TV screen like I don’t even exist in this room; she is just totally into this movie we are watching. So this movie we are watching is called Julie and Julia and it’s pretty interesting and distracting at the same time since I am watching that while doing this blog. I am also texting at this moment, with one of my friends who is still in high school and she is telling me about how her day was, which is actually pretty cool since I get to live my high school days through her texts, since she is basically taking the same classes I was. Abby just randomly decided to go back to lying on her bed instead of just sitting there staring at the screen she is now laying and starring at the screen, haha. Right now my mind is all over the place, since I am thinking about all the stuff that I need to do today and before tomorrow at 2pm. I have to meet with my engineering group tonight at 8:30 and then study for my multivariable calculus test tom at 2pm and then I also have to type up my rough draft for Julia before 1pm tomorrow afternoon, but it’s all okay, since I will get it done, and I just got another text and this movie is getting very intense so I’m going to stop writing now.

Randomness...
I didn’t know what to write about this week so I’m just going to write whatever comes to my mind or is happening around me while I write this blog. I just put new music on my phone so I am listening to that right now and it sounds pretty good on my phone compared to the shitty speaker on this stupid computer that we had to buy for engineering. I also hate engineering right now and I hate programming and matlab, I don’t see the point of it since I’m not going to use it at all after this year, I don’t know why I need to learn that shit if I’m never going to use it. But going back to this random blog, I am sitting in my friends room right now and she is watching some television show and laughing a lot so I assume it’s really good even though I have no idea what she is watching. I am also texting right now which is always fun especially since I am talking to one of my friends from high school who I don’t get to talk to a lot so it’s nice talking to her after such a long time. I also have written like twenty letters on facebook to my friends from high school and here at college since I couldn’t sleep so that’s what I thought I should do and so I did it. It was a lot of fun getting replies back and now I am just writing letter after letter to whoever decided to reply to my random messages from last night. I also ran eleven miles today so I am barely awake right now and I am also really tired and don’t really want to write this blog but I am doing it anyways since I don’t want to leave it for later which is probably a bad idea since I am just babbling right now about nothing and probably just wasted like ten minutes of your life making you read this shit which probably makes no sense to you at all but I had nothing else to talk about so yeah this is my blog for this week J hope you liked it.

3.2 Run in Remembrance
This Friday is the 3.2 Run in Remembrance. The 3.2-mile Run in Remembrance will once again be held on the 2010 Day of Remembrance to remember the 32 Hokies who lost their lives in 2007. This event allows you to be with fellow Hokies, to feel the support of the community and to celebrate the lives of our friends and family members. I feel like this is a good way to bring everyone together and have fun while doing something as a community. This is something that anyone can do, from kids to old people. Another reason I want to do this because I have been training for this race for a while and would like to do well since I ran in high school and haven’t run in a race for a long time. This race has been motivating me to run every day and train hard in order to get back in to shape. I have been running an average of 40 miles a week and that’s with one day a week off. This is while doing hills and speed workouts during the long runs. The goal is to run under 20 minutes for the 3.2 miles which is not that bad, since I have been training for a while now. That’s running about a 6 minute and 20 second miles three times. Even if I don’t achieve my goal it will still be fun to get back my competitive side since I haven’t been in competition for a long time. I am also planning on doing a half marathon soon, so this is a part of my training towards my goal of running a half marathon. I would like to do that in a time of 2 hours which I think is do able especially since I would have trained for it a long time.

Deportes (Sport!)
You might already know that I am really passionate when it comes to sport. I follow almost every sport out there, and this could possibly be the best time to be a sports fan. You can practically watch anything you want to at this time of the year. There is everything from baseball, which kicked off this weekend to basketball which is about to enter the playoffs, which should be an exciting two months of basketball, especially with the Lakers having a chance to repeat as NBA champs. Then there is hockey which is also close to enter its playoffs which should be a fun experience with the capitals playing for the Stanley cup. Then there is also the Masters which starts on Thursday and Tiger is back which should make things really interesting and maybe more people will actually pay attention to golf now that it has its superstar back. Finally, there is the NCAA tournament which wraps up this week with Duke playing Butler for the championship, not many people saw this coming since many picked Kansas to make it to the final and win over who ever would make it out of the other half of the bracket, which most believed would be either Kentucky or west Virginia.
Going into a more European sport, soccer is about to kick of the world cup in about a month or so, which should be a lot of fun to follow since it’s the world cup and it is soccer, the most popular sport in the world. Even people, who don’t watch soccer, watch the world cup since their country is playing for soccer’s most coveted prize. I believe that Brazil is going to win the world cup this year as their team has so many superstar player and the most talent out of any of the teams that are in the world cup.
For the next three months, sports is going to be a huge part of my life and will make my life a little more relaxing with all the school work and finals that are going to be coming up in may. Keeping up with all these sports should help keep my mind from irrupting and keep me from stressing out about finals.

Weekend FUN!
This weekend I plan on going to my friend Anna’s house to visit her family and go to her niece’s birthday party. It should be a good and new experience for me since I have lived in the city my whole life and my friend Anna lives in the country, so it will be fun to see how life is outside the city. We are planning on driving down there on Saturday morning and then driving back on that night, I think. Not sure about what the plan is exactly, but all I know is that we are going there.
Once I get back, I and some of my friends are planning on going hiking, which should be fun since the weather is supposed to be really nice in the next few days. It’s supposed to get up to about 80 on one of these days so it should be a fun time. I really like warm weather since I am from India and all this cold weather is not helping at all. The next two weeks are supposed to be really nice as far as weather goes.
I can’t wait for this weekend since I am done with most of my work and done with tests for most of my classes so I can enjoy my trips without having to worry about doing work when I get back from all these places I am going to. I also get to play some Frisbee and soccer and baseball in the quads outside my dorm since the weather will be nice enough to play outside and also wear shorts and t shirts.
I am really excited to get to this weekend so I can do everything that I have planned. Along with all the weather I also get to eat a lot of food since my friend Anna’s parents cook a lot of food and especially if we end up staying the night, they cook a really huge breakfast and apparently its really good.

Freedom
So this week is finally over, even though it is only Wednesday night. I am done with all my tests for the week, all five of them. The week started with me taking my linear test which I did pretty well on since it’s like the most bull shit class I have ever taken. I took the test without studying and got a seventeen out of eighteen. The point is not that I did well but that I had to spend two hours and write on about five and half pieces of paper in order to finish the test which was really annoying. Then came my creativity and esthetics test which was again stupid but I still had to take it.
Finally came the time for the tests that I thought would be the tough and ones that would have to study for. My inventor test was at eight in the morning which was bad news in itself but I went and took it and it turned out to be the easiest test I have taken in my life. It took me about exactly five minutes to complete the test and then I slept for the rest of the forty minutes that I had for the test. Later that day about five hours later I had my philosophy test which I spent about five hours studying for the previous night and that again turned out to be really easy as I knew everything on the test, which was probably because I studied so much for it, but still it was really easy. I was expecting it to be my hardest test of the week but it turned out to be as easy as the other ones that I had already taken.
Finally came the infamous engineering test, which I studied for the day of the test and was expecting to not do so well on. I get to the test and start taking it and I don’t know why, but it was really easy and before I knew it, I was on question ten and it had only been ten minutes into the test. I was done with about twenty minutes left and turned in the test with a smile on my face, knowing that I had done well on every test that week and that I was done for the rest of the week and I could enjoy the rest of the week and weekend.

Hell Week!
As I had mentioned in an earlier blog this semester that I was looking forward to my birthday week, well this is no longer true since this week is going to be the worst week in my college career so far since I have four tests this week and then two more the Monday and Tuesday of next week, which is going to be so much fun since I am not going to be able to do anything but study all this week and weekend for all these stupid tests and quizzes. By the time I finish all this work and my week I won’t even have the energy or the will to celebrate my birthday anymore, which is not exactly how I was envisioning my first birthday at college.
Apparently my friends were planning on taking me out to dinner for my birthday and this would have been a lot of fun but now this is not happening anymore since I will be spending that time in my room, like a nerd, studying for the six tests in total that I have in the next seven days, starting this Wednesday with engineering. Being with my friends on my birthday would have been such a better way to spend my day rather than studying and getting to just hang out with them outside of class and school would have been a lot of fun. We were planning on going to a restaurant for dinner and then partying this weekend at my friends place since she was going to throw me and another one of friends a combined birthday party, but this is going to have to change since I am not going to have anytime to leave my room this week.
I am definitely regretting not doing any work over break and being such a slacker now, since I am not in the groove that I was in before I left for break. Just not used to doing all this work yet, so I guess I am going to have to suck it up and start working on all the stuff that needs to be done this week and then celebrate my birthday after this hell week is over.

Wal-mart
Wal-Mart has always been an amazing place to go shopping, but one day I decided that it would be an amazing idea to break into a Wal-Mart because I needed a paintball gun for my adventure that next day. This idea came into my head after I had figured out that a group of friends were going paintballing and decided to tell me at eight pm the night before. I have always loved to go to Wal-Mart and thought that it would be the perfect place to get the paintball gun that I needed. So I put on my all black outfit so I would be practically invisible in the dark and drove over to the store. I ended up entering the building through a cracked window that I decided to shatter just for the heck of it. So now that I am in the store, it comes to my mind that there is food in the store, and I love chocolate and would do anything if someone was giving me chocolate. I go over to the section here all the chocolate, or in other work junk food is kept and start crushing some Hersey’s milk chocolate and some Kit Kat’s as those are my favorite two chocolates, and this is when I hear someone’s footsteps. At this point I am terrified as I have never done anything like this before and don’t want to get caught for a mere paintball gun. I take a minute to think about what I should do and decide to leave the store without the gun. As I am walking towards the door, I happen to walk across the paintball guns and I am so excited at this point, as I can get what I came here for. As I am looking for which one to take, I totally do not notice this very tall woman who is standing there at the other end doing the same thing I am. Instead of leaving I approach her and turns out that she works in a dental office and she is in love with the dentist. We end up talking for talking for hours and then notice that the lights are on and that its time for the store to open and end up sneaking out together and talking some more over break.

Stressful Week
This week was a tough week for me but I got a lot accomplished which makes this week a little more bearable. This week started with my getting no sleep as usual. I have been averaging about 30 hours of sleep every week, which is not even close to being enough sleep. Along with no sleep, I also had to worry about my multivariable test which was on Thursday and then my Resident Advisor interviews on Friday and Saturday. The only entertainment I had this week was the awesome basketball game that was on Tuesday and right after I had my intramural five on five basketball game, both of which turned out to be really good for me since we won against Wake Forest and my team won our intramural game too.
I spent my whole Wednesday studying for my multivariable test which was a big deal for me since I wanted to get off to a good start in that class especially since math is not really my best subject and it is a hard subject as it is. I studied for about six hours on Wednesday and then another two hours before the test. Then came the actual test and it went pretty well until I got to the third page and had no idea what I was doing. I walked out feeling okay about my test and hoping to get a B at least.
The most nerve racking part of my week is still to come, which is the interview for my RA position as I am not really an outgoing person and speaking to a person face to face about myself is a really hard thing to do when you have a shy personality. If I get through this part of the process it would be a great accomplishment for me and a big step towards by goals in life. After this interview the process is a lot easier since the Saturday interview is a group interview and shouldn’t be that bad since I work really well in groups. I can’t wait for this week to be over so I can enjoy my weekend and the upcoming week which will hopefully bring less stress and pressure.

March 1st
As many college students know, March first is a very important day for almost everyone who is planning to or is attending college. March first this year is especially an important day for me since I have so many scholarships and grants to be submitted by that due date. Along with those deadlines there is also the financial aid deadline which is also on the same day as those scholarship deadlines. That is not even close to being the end of everything that is due by that date. The last two but the most important things that are due by March first are my instate tuition form since I am doing ocean engineering and I am allowed to get instate tuition since it is not offered in any public universities in Maryland, my home state. Finally the last thing is that I find out whether or not I got my Resident advisor position on march first, which is very important to me since it would be a great building block for me and my confidence, as I am trying to prove a point to myself.
March first does also bring something a little less stressful, it reminds me that my birthday is only seventeen days away and this is always a good day to alive and give thanks for everything you have in your life. This is probably the most important thing on my mind right now since I am cranking out essay after essay in order to complete all five of the scholarships that I am applying for. Along with those come all the emails that I have to send to the ocean engineering department everyday in order to figure out what I am supposed to do for my instate tuition.
I am glad to say that I am making some progress as I have finished one of my scholarships and I also completed my financial aid application yesterday, so that’s two less things that I need to worry about in the next two weeks and this should make my life a little, but not too much easier. I looking forward to that day when I can relax and say that I have finished everything and the only thing on my mind will be that my birthday is in seventeen days.

Resolutions
This year started off with a bang for me since I spent New Year’s Eve with my friends and was away from family for the first time in my eighteen years of existence. We watched the ball drop as most people do that day and played some card games to pass the time. This is when I told myself that I would do things differently this year, which meant eating healthier and working out a lot more than I did the whole first semester of college. I played a lot more basketball that first semester but that doesn’t exactly count as working out, not to me at least.
I have been working out everyday this semester, as in running every day, a minimum of at least three miles a day. Then comes the hard part of the work out which includes sit ups, push up and pull ups, all three sets of them and the number of each one increases as the weeks go on. Pushups go up by two every week and sit ups by five and pull ups by one. I also lift weights three times a week sometimes four times a week. This is because I want to get stronger physically and not be just skin and bones.
Along with all of the activities above comes the most fun part which is playing basketball after doing all this about three times a week. I love basketball and have been playing since I was about eight. I used to be really bad at it but then with practice and growing about eight inches over one summer, I got a lot better and now I can’t stop playing. The sport requires both mental and physical strength which is another reason why I am lifting so that I can do more stuff on the basketball court and not just have to stick with shooting long three pointers.
The eating healthy part of my resolution is working out pretty well but the only bad thing about working out so much is that you eat more than you previously did, and at the weirdest times of the day which is not a good thing. This is the only thing that I need to work on and I will be on my way to making my resolution come true.

Air Ball, Air Ball...
The only good thing about football season being over is now I can watch some basketball games here at Virginia Tech. I have always been a bigger fan of basketball than football but I watch any sport out there. The way the season started it looked as if this was going to be a long season with a bad showing in our first game. We won the game but it was a horrible game as we should have won by a wider margin but ended up winning only by like six against a really bad team.
This all changed soon after we lost our first game as we turned it around after that game and started playing really well and winning the next nine games against some really good teams, especially the last of those nine wins which was in Mexico against a Seton Hall team which is a very good team. We ended up beating them in a game that we needed to win to have a statement win this season, before the ACC season started. This game went into overtime and we ended up winning in overtime in a very exciting non conference game.
Then started the ACC season, which also got off to a bad start with us losing two out of our first three games but we also turned this around with a huge win over a very good Boston College team. This game was really exciting as it came down to the wire with us scoring the game winning basket with five seconds to go in the game. We play another important game against Virginia as they are tied for the ACC lead. This need this win in order to compete in the ACC as it is a very tough division to be in.

Week 1 Frustrations...
The first week of the new semester came with the depressing fact that my fun and relaxing winter break was over and that I had to come back to my rigorous daily schedule here at Tech. The worst part about all this was that I had to leave my friends from high school again, and this time it was even harder since we got used to seeing each other almost every day. Leaving home also had its privileges, since I got to come back and meet all my friends here at Tech who I had not seen for about a month. I also would have the freedom that I had gained here at V Tech.
My week started out with a lot of fun stuff with me finally getting to play basketball and run after about a month and a half since it was way too cold and too much snow on the ground to play or run. After this fun day, things just went downhill from there. Classes started bright and early for me on Tuesday and this was hard to do since I was used to waking up at about 12 pm not 7 am.
This was just the beginning of a long week since I had 8 am classes the next two days and there was no way I was getting enough sleep since it is really hard to go to bed early enough at college since there is always something going on at all times. Along with the early classes, there are also the tough classes that we are required to take in order to complete our engineering education.
This semester has just begun but it feels like I have been here forever. The only thing that is going to motivate me enough is the thought that this is all going to pay off once I graduate and have a good job. To insure that this happens I am going to have to work really hard, do a lot of work and also have to go to class bright and early for the next three and a half months.
