This Friday is the 3.2 Run in Remembrance. The 3.2-mile Run in Remembrance will once again be held on the 2010 Day of Remembrance to remember the 32 Hokies who lost their lives in 2007. This event allows you to be with fellow Hokies, to feel the support of the community and to celebrate the lives of our friends and family members. I feel like this is a good way to bring everyone together and have fun while doing something as a community. This is something that anyone can do, from kids to old people. Another reason I want to do this because I have been training for this race for a while and would like to do well since I ran in high school and haven’t run in a race for a long time. This race has been motivating me to run every day and train hard in order to get back in to shape. I have been running an average of 40 miles a week and that’s with one day a week off. This is while doing hills and speed workouts during the long runs. The goal is to run under 20 minutes for the 3.2 miles which is not that bad, since I have been training for a while now. That’s running about a 6 minute and 20 second miles three times. Even if I don’t achieve my goal it will still be fun to get back my competitive side since I haven’t been in competition for a long time. I am also planning on doing a half marathon soon, so this is a part of my training towards my goal of running a half marathon. I would like to do that in a time of 2 hours which I think is do able especially since I would have trained for it a long time.
